You do realize that he lacked funding that was given by the U.S. government, not the free market. If anything this is an example of the government being bad at allocating money and the free market probably would've done a better job. Read the article before you comment.

If money didn't exist research wouldn't need to be beholdened to it. This is an example of science not being done because of capitalism. The common argument is we need unabashed greed to accomplish anything.

Government funding is shrinking precisely because of "free market" capitalism. Politicians have been de-funding institutions for the past 30 years to appease market interests and slowly privatize education. The market doesn't fund research that doesn't produce a profit, hence science suffers.

Oh, but please do enjoy your glorious Libertarian future of international corporations selling you sugar pills with the backing of a hundred corporate sponsored studies that say they sure cancer.

I hardly know why I should even bother engaging an obvious troll on here.

What entity do you think gives grants out? Companies that pay their researchers to do research pay a salary. Researchers looking for grants are asking for help from the government, and the government didn't fund his research, yet you're going to blame the free market for the lack of funding? Did you not read the article as well?
