Neoliberalism didn't work. So they tried neoliberalism. That didn't work so now they're trying neoliberalism.

Crazy idea but if that doesn't work out again, I think they should try out neoliberalism.

That's total bullshit. They should be trying neoliberalism instead.

Neoliberalism is dead, long live neoliberalism!

Syriza wasn’t neoliberal when they got elected. That’s just an incorrect reading of what happened in Greece. Syriza stands for The Coalition of the Radical Left, hardly the name of a neoliberal party.

Yet from the day they were elected they acted as if they were neoliberal.

Would the Democratic People's Republic of Korea be all of those things, given the name, or Buffalo Wings be the wings of a buffalo?

No, obviously the members of the party were lying, but to treat the Greek people like a bunch of idiots who keep voting for neoliberal parties is bullshit and kinda offensive

I don't think as anarchists we tend to hold 'the people' accountable for their shithead leaders; if one party promises change and doesn't bring it, so you pick the new one promising change, I don't blame you for falling for their propaganda.

Radical neoliberals.

They weren’t neoliberals when they got elected. They got elected on a campaign of radical change. To say that the Greek people are just stupid fools who keep voting for neoliberalism and wondering why nothing ever changes is fucking wrong

This comment is pretty plainly saying that the Greek people are idiots who think trying neoliberalism over and over again is the way out of the crisis. It’s simply not true, the Greek people voted for Syriza because they wanted radical change, nobody knew just how compromised Tsipras was until the EU referendum.

You can't vote for radical change.

But what if the party is called 'Radical Change Coalition of the Radical Left for Radical Change'? CHECKMATE ANARCHOS

I hope this is a lesson for everyone here that demsocs are useless. The same goes for Greece's 3 ML parties. Party politics is about re-configuring the status quo slightly so different people are in power. It doesn't actually change the status quo.

The vast majority of Greek people did not vote for Syriza.

I think they were sincere in believing that they were radical and opposed to neoliberalism, but they came to power without any real analysis of the power relations governing the Greek state, they wildly overestimated what was possible from elected office, and committed themselves hard to the EU, which left them with literally no choice but to implement neoliberalism.

Good intentions don't count for much if you still end up strategically outflanked and become a collaborator with the ruling class.

Good to see Golden Dawn went down, though.

Golden Dawn went down because the Nazi vote got split between them and this crazy infowars-esque character.
