I don't know how broadly we want to define our notion of "stumping". I certainly don't care for content that tries to get people to support campaigns on here, but I think content that talks about elections and US politics in general should be allowed. Much of this forum has to do with elections and it's difficult to only post things that mention politics without mention of the election whatsoever. I think it would kill the forum and I also don't see the need for such a prohibition on usa election content. While US election content is more popular on this forum than other elections in other countries, you'll note that the posts talk about elections in other countries as well apart from just the US. So it would be weird to ban posts that share content on US elections while still allowing mentions about elections in other countries.

tl;dr - don't let people use this forum to campaign for candidates, but let them post articles and write posts that talk about the elections in USA and elsewhere if they want. That's my position.

If it's okay with you, I'd like to make a new meta post on the voting because I think the edits and what not have made your original post about the voting on this matter a bit unclear.

I'd like to make a new post that says the following:

"Please vote for one of the following options: 1) No USA election content of any kind on any forum other than f/USA. 2) No USA election content of any kind on any forum other than f/USA. But even on f/USA, no stumping or active online campaigning for candidates is allowed. 3) Allow USA election content but NOT active online campaigning or stumping for candidates on f/USA, f/politics. 4) Let's not change any of the rules on these forums regarding this matter. Let the downvoting take care of things and users should just block or hide forums they find annoying. 5) Ignore this meta post and just enforce the results of the vote from the previous meta post on this topic."

Would this be okay with you? u/freux, u/fossidarity

I just want to make sure people are considering all the possible options before they vote.

Because we're still voting in the meta thread and right now the consensus is to not exclude US politics from here. If you look at the forum, the vast majority of it is US politics. It would kill the forum.

I guess, I just feel uncomfortable about banning threads like this for no good reason

https://raddle.me/f/Politics/63130/bernie-sanders-runs-for-president-again

seems counterproductive on a general politics forum. It's not like this forum is for radical politics.

I agree with that. Like I said in the other thread, insular stuff like 'woo this candidate I like is so cool!' belongs in a regional forum. But there's plenty of other stuff like my examples of kamala harris being a cop, bernie being a brocialist, etc that plays to an international audience and has radical convo potential.
