It seems there is a slight chance that the Lukashenko regime will fall, but what will come after is the big question... we will most likely see some variant of western style capitalism?

Apparently, Lukashenko is now claiming that the protesters are russians trying to destabilize Belarus; if this is true, how will Putin react?

Also, conservatives and lefties are working together to overcome the regime. Anything can happen I guess.......

The EU don't give a fuck it seems.

Belarus is seemingly getting weaponry from countries like Czech Republic and Canada.

This is comical: https://nitter.net/AmichaiStein1/status/1292768831543414785#m

Good luck!

Chance is slim, but thicker than ever, indeed. "A variant of western style capitalism" is, honestly, the most likely outcome, no need for false hopes here.

I think, even Putin himself don't know yet. He is known for his love for improvisation and taking a decision at the last moment. I'm sure he don't really want Luka to fall to protests - because it's a dangerous precedent. Belarus today - is Russia tomorrow, as everyone says these days. It seems that a variant of providing military/police assist to Belarus in exchange of more political dependency is being considered.

Also, conservatives and lefties are working together to overcome the regime. Anything can happen I guess.......

I don't know. "Leftists" as in communists, were always supportive to Luka. Now, it seems, even some of them are fed up with him. Not a majority, though.

Good luck!

All the luck!

Thanks for your insight...

This fuels my pessimism even more.

Anyway, here's a good read: https://pramen.io/en/2020/08/how-did-the-belarusians-come-to-rebellion-against-the-dictatorship/

If it will ever happen and will ever float to a surface - they will loose Belarus forever. Literally no one there will take it lightly.

Putin and Luka are out of touch with reality enough to do it, mind you.

Don't know if it dispels your pessimism a bit or not.

A lot of the disinformation being posted about Belarus here and also Twitter has connections to nefarious forces:

https://newsmaker.md/rus/novosti/v-belarusi-na-osnovatelya-telegram-kanala-nexta-otkryli-ugolovnoe-delo-za-organizatsiyu-massovyh-besporyadkov/

In Belarus, the founder of the popular Telegram channels Nexta and Nexta Live, Stepan Putilo, is wanted within the framework of a criminal case on organizing mass riots.

The founder of Telegram channels, Stepan Putilo, is accused of organizing riots. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

Nexta Live has become a popular Telegram channel in Belarus and abroad amid coverage of protests that began after the August 9 presidential elections. Now the Nexta Live channel has 1.9 million subscribers, and Nexta has 722 thousand subscribers.

But then it gets even more interesting. Stepan is the son of journalist Alexander Putilo, an employee of the Belsat satellite channel, which broadcasts from Poland to Belarus in Belarusian and Russian. That is, it is quite a tool of "soft power", if we speak in a fashionable way, and a mouthpiece for propaganda, if in the old way. Surprise: Poland is interested in Belarus. They have a number of claims and hopes there, including territorial ones. And they are working. Day after day, year after year, explaining why the current regime is bad, and the close Europe is good. If anything, the American Radio Liberty is listed as Belsat's partners. And, by the way, Stepan "Nekhta" Putilov, in addition to the tg-channel, quite officially works in the same place as his dad, the host of sports programs.

If it seems to you that I am denouncing someone now, then I assure you that I did not have this in my thoughts. Each country has its own interests, including beyond borders. All are interested in increasing their influence and achieve this to the best of their ability and ability. I am also sure that what Putilov is doing, he is doing quite sincerely and from the heart. It's just that this sincerity is beneficial to the western neighbor at the moment.

Supporting Nazis is not acceptable. The Mental gymnastics to justify siding with a fascist country against a socialist one is completely mind blowing. Anarchists supporting imperialism is just wow.
