MOX or Mixed oxide fuel. Is an alternative fuel that can be burned in many reactors. It's a mix of unenriched uranium and "waste" plutonium.

While the BN-800 was designed from the ground up to burn MOX. MOX can be used in many existing reactors. Allowing both an avenue for plutonium disposal and a way to use the uranium "waste" tailings left over from the enrichment process.
