It's a pretty bad article anyways. Half of it is spent explaining enshittification and network effects. Their just suggests interoperability as a potential solution, e.g. being able to port your Amazon ebooks to a different platform.
This article wouldn't be that controversial if they used a title like "Interoperability as a Solution to Reduce Enshittification" instead of the click bait that it is now.

This makes sense and is interesting because Australia has been taking more and more about transitioning away from just doing whatever the US does. The state is increasingly more interested in being open to being amicable to China and USA.
