Your headline is slightly wrong. Women diagnosed with cancer are six time more likely to be divorced than men diagnosed with cancer.
A woman is six times more likely to be separated or divorced soon after a diagnosis of cancer or multiple sclerosis than if a man in the relationship is the patient, researchers at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance reported in the journal Cancer.
According to the book how not to die (from nutritionfacts.org), a whole food plant based diet helps a lot with not having cancer. Family history is relevant of course but much less than diet and lifestyle: the book points out that populations that didn't have cancer started to have them when they migrated and changed their diet.
