Typical Reddit bullshit. No karma-whoring here. No street cred. Just sharing. I did offer to make the Reddit mods moderators of this forum but fuckem.

Yeah, I don;t seem to have the ability so I'll message the admins and see.

WTF that's ridiculous. I never had a problem with the mods until this whole situation started. Now they've lost all my respect, the community is just trying to find a way to keep megalinks alive and they're banning people for it. Reddit really is going to shit.

That why I mentioned that new site means new and better mods

What was wrong with the old ones? They were great. Uploaded tons of content, kept the subreddit clean and running.

000 needs to add more mods. And clean up submissions. People are submitting requests as posts. That's not cool and a total waste of space. Needs to be cleaned up.

_ziq_ wrote

Yeah the requests should really be limited to the sticky or what's the point of the sticky? They should mod some good sharers.

I’m working on it all. I updated the forum description to advise requests go into the request thread. I’m working on adding mods now.

I think 000 mentioned that he offered the old mods the opportunity to resume modding / have similar permissions etc. over here and they didn't respond. I think they were good but now they're just on a power trip

If I'm gonna get corrupt I want it to be for something a lot cooler than an unpaid mod job.

You would think the Reddit mods/admin would be happy for the Megalink redditors to find somewhere else to peddle their wares, any place as long as it isn't being done in their precious Reddit landscape.

People need to realize that the r/megalinks reddit sub isn't the place to discuss alternates to reddit. Do it in the discord. No one is going to let you use their own platform to drive people away from their platform. It's ridiculous to expect that.

With that said, I'm not convinced raddle is a good alternative. With the far left vibe and threats of censorship for whatever they consider to be hate speech, it doesn't seem like a good place to freely share content. Some movies, video games, music, magazines, etc. will be against their political ideals and I have no reason to believe that they will allow it. If someone wants to upload and share some NRA channel series(for example), they should be allowed to do it. This is right now the biggest concern of the r/megalinks community, and it would be a shame to see people hastily jump ship to the wrong site.

NRA would probably be fine. The NRA is dumb & racist, but people here like guns. They are fairly tame.

You'd have to be consistently posting some pretty far-out there shit to get anything deleted. I really think the worst-case scenario is getting made fun of.

But then again, if your main worry is not being able to post racist propaganda or something, I'm not all that desperate for your participation.

Nice strawman.

selver wrote

It's not a strawman. We literally wouldn't delete anything other than legit racist, sexist, etc. propaganda. So unless that's a big worry for you, there's no reason to be wary of using the site. I meant "you" as in whoever wants to post that shit, not you specifically.

kwyjibo wrote

That was a text book strawman.

My concern is with what gets defined as "sexist" and "propaganda." You might not feel NRA channel videos are propaganda, but a moderator might.

And the NRA channel thing is an example. I could sit here coming up with all kinds of examples, but it just makes more sense to instead to look for a site without a suspicious left or right-leaning slant. I don't like what I'm allowed to see being filtered through someone else's politically skewed lens.

Mods don't really make the decisions here. People discuss it and then vote on it.

But sure, if you just want a place you can post literally anything on, you'll probably want somewhere else. Not that places without political biases necessarily exist. At the very least with raddle you know you won't get kicked off for ad revenue.

Well I guess that's better. Still not as good as having a clear policy on what content is and isn't allowed.

But sure, if you just want a place you can post literally anything on, you'll probably want somewhere else.

"Literally anything," or "literally anything political?" Because the former is another strawman, and the latter might just prove my point.

Sure you could. And probably no moderated site is going to allow all of them. It doesn't matter, there are other places to find things. As long as this site lets through 90% of what you are looking for and doesn't shut down the sub for random reasons like Reddit, it will be a success.
