Now, I'm not saying modern day rabbinical Judaism as a whole doesn't support the gender binary, cause it does. However, that there is precedent within rabbinical Judaism for alternative gender systems is really cool I think.

I've also seen Eunuch listed as separate from Saris, as having undergone removal rather than biological changes.

But it gave a good though that while Abrahamic cultures tended to strip evidence non-binary gender from history, it's only really "Enlightenment" and "Science" that tried to "fix" intersex people, and enforce the binary that way.

Huh, never really thought about that but it makes sense that in the "rationalising" and categorization of the natural world, deviations from said categories would need to be fixed to keep the categories constant and stable.
