Saw a guy get caught today at Walmart.

Submitted by Positif in Illegalism

So, I was at Walmart getting myself a free Uniform for work, and I was walking to the garden area(virtually abandoned, no workers or cameras) to conceal and this heavy set Assistant Manager lady briskly walks past me. I was wondering why she was in such a hurry and I look at the direction she's going and I see a guy with a huge ass backpack—camping size—trying to slide open the doors that get "locked" after 10pm. The lady like yells after him "those doors are closed sir!" and all of a sudden 4 more employees start running after him as he tries to go through the doors. They all grab him and take his bag off and one employee opens it up and pulls out a keyboard lol. I was like omg. At that point I just kept walking because I didn't want to seem suspicious. I was able to conceal and get out quickly as to not draw attention to myself, but tbh all the attention was on him so he basically gave me a free ride to the whole store lol.

I realized that he did several things wrong to get caught a) huge backpack b) went straight to the electronics c) didn't try to drop the bag and run once employees saw him

It brought so much attention to him haha. Anyways, yeah thought I'd share about that.. tbh he really needed this forum. But hey he helped me out cause I got another successful lift under my belt.

Ty, and I got a pair of non-slip shoes, black pants and a white button up for my work uniform that's all. Nothing crazy lol

Unfortunately where I live it won’t be getting cold until January, but as soon as it does you know I’ll be layering up :)

I'm glad the distraction helped you, but I feel bad for the guy who got caught. Walmart deserves everything they get.

Even if he dropped bags the employee will probably choose to chase him down and get him. That’s 100% sure

Depends where at Walmart probably not its against there policy and even if they do just square up assuming your average sized Male and they will back down...gotta fully commit lol

Lol. Well what is the average size male. I don’t think I am. Or am I?

145ish -150lb and 5’7. Am I average?

Damn, I always have my backpack too but it’s super small. You sound way more professional than me though I need to try to be as confident as you!! I don’t think I’m ready for a bold walk out yet either lol..

Understandable about the scenarios. But what if they're trying to stall you until security or the police arrive? Do you still stand there and make up a half truth story about your bag etc to sound believable or do you just try to get out of their asap?

When I lifted my Dyson vacuum from Walmart, There was a guy getting detained by LP. I just casually strolled by them with my expensive vaccume cleaner I just lifted 🤷 I try not to make myself look suspicious. I come in and I look nice so I don't attract attention and I always ALWAYS look at my surroundings. I don't lift even when other customers are around.
