There is an elementary school which closed down recently nearby. I was just chilling around there with friends when I looked inside and saw that a lot of stuff was still there, including a TV. Not going for a TV as I don't have a car, but if there's a TV, there must be more, right?

Do you think there is a working security system? I'm 99% sure there aren't any security camera's, and the building is pretty old. The doors are wooden and there are big windows all around.

I should probably state that I am a minor, and it would be both for fun and for profits. If I am actually doing this, I might know a person who would join me. I am also only doing it when there is no security. I'm not planning to run for police.

How would you get in the building? The easiest would be to throw a rock at the building but there are people living really closely to the school so they would heat that.. Another probably better option would be to get a crowbar and open the door.

What do you think? Am I dreaming or is it a real possibility?

Avoid teachers' belongings, including laptops. They buy lots of classroom shit out of their own pockets. Modern digital projectors, Document cams, student laptops (most teachers wouldn't have locked their large charging boxes) would be the most $ in the rooms. The office would have more pricey stuff, but also more specialty, so harder to flip. Don't break a window.

You might have only glanced the post.... They were asking about an elementary school that is already closed so no personal belongs should be inside.

Yup, it's been closed for weeks now. Suprised there's still shit in there.

How would you recommend getting in? Any other tips besides about what I can steal?

Try and find the power box before you go in. Shut off power and wait a few days in case the system has a battery backup. After that break a window, go in for a few minutes, then go back outside for an hour or more to see if anyone shows up. If all clear you should be good to roam around inside as long as you want.

Most security systems have a battery backup. They also report when power is lost and when the battery is running low, so people will know that power has been cut and will send someone to restore it, usually before the battery backup runs out. I know this because ive installed and works on these systems. They are hard to beat.

I know they exist but I doubt an abandoned school will have those resources. I am willing to bet they gutted most computer equipment which would include battery banks and generators.

I would go in looking for things that can help you. Library reference books, tables, chairs, an entire commercial kitchen.

If the kitchen is still intact I would rip everything out of there and setup a communal kitchen.

There is likely an IT closet that would contain routers, switches, maybe other servers. Find all the wireless equipment. Repurpose the intercom system.

I would try and find the main breaker system for the building. Take a cheap desk lamp and plug it in a room that you can easily see. Cut the power and check every day to see if the lamp's light ever turns back on. After a couple days I would then start exploring.

No idea about the security system, but could you shim open a window somehow? Maybe? Idk

As for the teachers' belongings, I think that'd be up to you really. Some teachers are okay I guess, some are utter asshats, but ATAB

Am I just plain retarded

Probably there'd be a better way of expressing that? Those ideas do a lot of harm--probably including to you, partly (tho obviously not primarily in any way), with the fear of being considered it

Good luck!!

Thank you. The school has been closed for weeks now so I don't think teachers belongings are still inside.

Sorry for my usage of words

How would you recommend entering? I'm afraid if I throw a brick through the window people who live nearby will hear it.

Probably not a good idea IMO. Most schools, if not all have some sort of camera system and all have alarm systems which are monitored remotely. Most schools use Bosch alarm systems (ive installed several in schools and government buildings over the years). These usually only have a keypad that will beep when the alarm is triggered, so unless you're near it, you probably wont hear it and cops could already be on their way.
