Do you believe wearing business/office clothes and looking smart is an effective camouflage method?

What LP is going to watch someone (unless they overly sus) if they’re dressed up professionaly? they’re on lunch break or on way to work with nice shoes trousers glasses on and a coat ..and acting casual or in rush to get back to work..

I’ve personally found its dependant on The store but on the whole I feel like I don’t get watched ATALL really if I’m looking like this. It could be part placebo though maybe I’m just less anxious

Basic monochrome models of T-shirts, as always, remain out of trends. Classic models are still relevant, but the cut of such shirts has become more accessible, closer to the movement of oversize. If you like a t-shirt or fitted styles, choosing fashionable knitted models with a ribbed pattern is better. Now it has become very stylish to wear a T-shirt https://www.hiphoptilinfinity.com/t-shirts/travis-scott/. Therefore, such clothes are suitable for walks around town, sports, simple bow. It is easy and extremely comfortable on a hot summer day. And if you wear a sweater or cardigan on top, you get a comfortable combination for cooler weather.

They're trained to watch behaviors. Clothing might be superficial, but it couldn't hurt to spiffy up ones appearance.

Is there a list somewhere if what they’re trained to watch for?

Go check out the loss prevention sub on Reddit. In some discussions they'll lay it out flat what certain LP associates will look for. Shifty eyes, hands in pockets, the "larceny lean" up against buggies, etc etc...

Where you lean forward on the buggy. It's a term they use.

It's watched by LP because (especially if you're a woman and you've a purse), you could be leaning over to try and conceal your hand motions as you're putting something into your bag. Sometimes people will actually pull the buggy behind them and load shit into their cart. They'll watch that. People who might be yawning a lot (this releasing muscle tension in the jaw from being nervous). Making a beeline right to a certain area. Doubling back on a route through a store, and so on and so on. I'm not LP but I've worked in retail for a long time. When a store you work in doesn't have loss prevention, the associates themselves are taught what to look out for.

I wear scrubs and I honestly feel like I am looked at less because of that. It helps that I am a Caucasian female around her 30’s too. I’m a pretty quiet person, most people I know would be shocked to know that I lift. Maybe if I was paid a decent wage for what I do, I wouldn’t have to. But alas, here I am. Can’t even attempt to climb the ladder when nursing school requires you to work less than part time and that unfortunately wouldn’t pay the bills.

Look, clothes that look like a costume will draw attention. If you can do business clothes without standing out, I'd encourage you to do so. When I was active, that was my go-to. A 30ish aged white guy in a shirt and tie isn't as attention grabbing as a 20 year old with a backpack. Looking like you have money and intend to spend is a plus.

But when it comes down to it, some LP are experts, and no clothes are going to save you from looking like a shady fuck.

Good luck.

I don’t know if this makes a difference. But as I walk into a store (only really grocery as there is a guard by the door) I thumb through the cash in my wallet. I make a bit of a show of it and ensure I’m seen doing it by the guard. In my mind thinking that they won’t see me as a threat as I have cash to spend. Reality is though , I could have a grand in my wallet and I would still pinch a pack of gum

if you are POC, especially black, it can be night and day. if you're white passing it doesn't do much as long as you aren't dressed like a drug dealer from one of those Reagan era PSAs (no baggy hoodies, no garish sneakers, no bags). It basically signals that you are the capitalist ideal of a respectable wealthy person (and if you're POC, it signals that you're prooobably one of the 'good ones', since a lot of people will instantly assume you don't have as much money because you're not white). tl;dr LP are more likely to follow A Boogie than Tyler The Creator.

A big tip for cold weather is to get some patagonia/north face fleeces and softshell winter hiking trousers instead of wearing hoodies, puffers, jeans and sweatpants. LP tend to completely overlook you if you're wearing merino wool instead of thick winter clothing.
