The pestle provides the oldest evidence for human oat consumption, adding to other evidence that “people were using grasses much earlier than we thought and in larger quantities than we thought, at some times of year,”

Ah so that's why its called the stone(d) age

I still need to conduct further experiments, but I think a good way to prepare Wild Oat seeds is to harvest them and sprout them, after they sprout it is much easier to separate "the straw" and the things that stuck in the throat from the seed

Its cool someone is talking about grains. Typically the main source of vegan calories is often avoided in discussion about growing food because its not very competitive with traditional ag. I don't really know much about harvesting most grains by hand. So its cool you are talking about it.

Some wild grains can also be harvested in the wild (like wild oat), The difficult part is not the harvesting but the preparation, they usually have defense mechanisms that make it difficult to "swallow" them

Yeah I know. Only cuz I've grown grain industrially for a job.

Field Corn is actually prob a good bet for grains as it's as easy to harvest as apples. Tho they would take up way more space than shelled rice or oats.

Tho if oats or rice had a mechanical tool to process at a decent rate corn would prob loose time efficiency.
