human life expectancy has rocketed because empirically sound, evidence based modern medicine works and past alternatives did not

In 1900, pneumonia and influenza, tuberculosis, and enteritis with diarrhea were the three leading causes of death in the United States

Yeah, it's nice having sanitation and grocery stores with OJ. What were you saying again?

We have effective sanitation because empirical medicine discovered germ theory after millennia of "herbal medicine" failed to properly understand it and address it.

We have excellent survival rates for pneumonia because empirical medicine discovered and mass manufactured effective antibiotics after millennia of "herbal medicine" failing to do so effectively.

Tuberculosis contained due to again antibiotics and vaccinations, more empirical scientific medicine solving another problem.

Enteritis was solved again due to germ theory and anti bacterial treatment on food but also critically by rotavirus vaccinations for severe strains. Again empirical, scientific medicine solved it after millennia of "herbal medicine" failing to.

Thank you for perfectly proving my point though.
