Best case scenario: the dropped charges are used by employers to discrimate against you (an enhanced records check shows all charges, even dropped ones).

Worse case scenario: the dropped charges are referenced in a future court case where you are the defendant, greatly increasing your chances of being found guilty.

Worst case scenario: the UK descends into fascism and the 'dropped' charges (which are kept on record forever ofc) are used to identify you as a dissident, round you up and kill you. This is exactly what happened in Chile only a generation ago.
