Isn't the major pollution with literal mining in regards to the direct environmental damage plus the waste, rather than the power input? I know that most mines here end up stocking up tons of radioactive shit that every few years bursts and either gets into our water supplies or our rivers and either kills all the wildlife down the river or just ends up in our drinking water and no further reports on the potential effects ever come up.

I agree. I don't understand why they keep making it seem like bitcoin mining is worse than gold mining or burning fossil fuels. Sure, mining bitcoin takes a lot of power consumption, but I don't think that it's the worse of all like news media outlets make it seem like. That said, I think that bitcoin miners could also use some alternative to this. Maybe solar panels? What do you think?

I think the best answer we have available, within the realm of just cryptocurrency (I hate currency as a whole so) is a mix of PoW and PoS, like Ethereum has. I'm not an expert in cryptocurrency, though.

How will PoW and PoS help with bitcoin mining though? Anyway, I agree that miners should find another way to mine bitcoins that is more eco-friendly. I think all crypto miners should.
