Here is a brief comparison of Nama war to the holocaust by the times of israel.

  • references “The Genocidal Gaze: From German Southwest Africa to the Third Reich,” author Elizabeth Baer
  • Several Germans, .. imparted the evil to the next generation — including the colony’s imperial administrator
    • Heinrich Goring, whose son Hermann Goring became one of Hitler’s most notorious lieutenants.
    • Dr. Eugen Fischer performed gruesome experiments on indigenous people, sending their severed heads back to Germany; his university students included another future doctor infamous for his experiments — Josef Mengele.

In 2020, the last year the government provided figures for, Germany contributed €108 million ($116 million) to support foreign allied troops on its soil, up from €100 million the year before.

Can't make mexico pay for the wall, but they can make Germany pay for their occupation.

Another comparison I'd been thinking of was the northern outbreak of the Angolan war of independence, where the Portuguese bombed tens of thousands of people after a revolt broke out where nationalists killed a lot of Portuguese colonizers that weren't soldiers or cops (also some African workers imported from other parts of the colony). There's a German connection too in that West Germany armed fascist Portugal throughout these colonial wars & was treating wounded Portuguese troops.

When I feel like finding it again, it was days ago. But off top it's just that it was a counterinsurgency war—both the Nama & Herero rejected German attempts to rule them or their homelands—where the colonizers explicitly used mass killing & forced removal of entire populations as collective punishment while doing a terrible job of taking out the people who were actually fighting them. (Not implying doing a "better job" would make it justified, of course.)

Ok, you are correct, I don't follow German news that much.

According to the scholar Gideon Botsch, JF is a "hinge between national conservatism and the extreme right”.[2] Alexander Gauland, a co-founder of Alternative for Germany, has claimed that "Whoever wants to understand Alternative for Germany ought to read Junge Freiheit

Utterly hilarious that this is where they draw the line lmao. Obvious PR stunt from Sparkasse, they don't really care about what the compact magazine does, but everyone hates the AfD rn. Compact is so overtly fascist, so extremely racist and antisemitic, if the Sparkasse really cared, they would've stopped doing business with them many years ago.
