Most of the stuff that I planted out got eaten by slugs. Those are some hungry folks I can tell you. Potatoes from seed - completely eaten; tobacco - mostly eaten; pepper - completely eaten and so on. I started picking and killing them, which makes me kind of sad, but to me it seems as if I have no choice. If someone has some tricks on how to deal with them, I will greatly appreciate advice. I already tried some stuff though: putting a line of coffee around the plants, which does absolutely nothing; only watering in the mornings, which is hard to stick to in such a dry time; spreading some roman snails (helix pomatia), which I can't tell if it helped or not.
At least the calabash is growing a lot, I expect a good harvest from that. The potatoes from planting potatoes are growing just fine through the mulching. Tomatoes have been left growing by the slugs, which is nice.
Strawberries are great if you plant them everywhere inbetween, they keep on propagating and harvest was good so far.
