It was okay.
The broth was a little bit tomatoey for my liking. It was reminiscent of unsweetened spaghettios. Vegetables were mushy and a little bland. Pretty much what you would expect from canned vegetable soup.
The be’f is probably why you would buy this over a more plain regular soup. I counted five chunks of be’f while cooking. That was a little less than I wanted, I would want to see two to four more chunks. Flavor-wise they were fine. Mild and slightly savory but were drowned out by the broth a bit. The biggest thing they brought to the soup was a change in texture. They had a nice chew to them and made the soup feel more like a complete meal.
It filled me up for several hours but did not get me all the way to my next meal with just my usual snacks.
My child actually had some of the soup as well. They were interested in what I was eating. After a few tentative sips of the broth they sat down next to me and had maybe a dozen or two spoonfuls of broth. They were unwilling to try the be’f chunks or large vegetables. I would actually call that a pretty strong endorsement from them.
I'll probably try it again. I’ll probably add pearled barley next time to make be’f and barley. That might add some more flavor and texture to make it a little more palatable and bulk to make it more filling.
