are rushing to victim blaming women

How is it possible to think that and still claim to be leftist? I can't even comprehend.

how painful this person's life must be believing they are to blame for every bad thing that happens to them :(

Them:: "They have had 50 years to do something and they haven't done a goddamn thing." That's such a stupid, untrue thing to say and I'm at a loss. I guess I need someone to womansplain to me how to talk to someone in hysterics.

I want to know what it is that this person is claiming that democrats have done to help protect abortion access. Aside from using it as a mechanic to generate donations?

Here's the thing: they don't care about which constitutional right the right to an abortion is enumerated under. They don't believe in a pregnant person's right to choose so no matter how the government grants it (as a constitutional right, or as a matter of congressional law) they will always fight it. If they pass a law the Supreme Court will overturn it.

The fact of the matter is that the conservative legal project has been wildly successful and the democrats have done nothing to get in the way. There are 70 federal courts without a sitting judge right now. Seventy. There's no good reason why Biden isn't packing the court with pro-life judges. There are plenty. But their constant inaction and hesitancy toward any action (because if they do it then the "Republicans will do it too!" never mind decades of Republicans doing whatever the fuck they want) proves them all to be fucking cowards.

This isn't even mentioning the way that the Dems are currently gunning for an anti-choice candidate OVER one who is more progressive and pro-choice. It's fucking bullshit to think that it's the fault of the people for not voting hard enough.

liberals are already talking about voting harder and blaming people who didn't vote for Clinton in swing states. Like does Biden not currently have control of the house and senate right now this very second? Also let's lay some blame on Ruth "who better than me" Bader Ginsberg for not retiring because fuck her and her fucking vanity ass bullshit.

I'm confused as to how these men think that this doesn't affect them at all. Like, are they truly looking forward to paying child support for a new kid every year???

Trying to save some rage for the weekend, though.

Love this.

As I was reading your post and this thread, I was scratching my head trying to figure out what reasoning shitty people could possibly use to turn this into a victim blame fest. Then I saw your examples....

The fucking nerve of these people to talk down to and belittle people who didn't vote. Like YOU'RE the naive one for not voting hard enough and they're somehow blameless and not at all naive for not only continually voting for these ineffectual fucking ghouls, but being duped by (or willfully ignoring) their perenial bait-and-switch bullshit. As if people who abstain from electing these fuckers are somehow ignorant or stupid, nevermind that these asshole seem to get duped every time.

But THIS elsction cycle will be different, little lady! And until then, I guess you can just sit and think about all the stuff you didnt do to counter a decades long concerted political operation propelled by a multibillion dollar machine. Hope you dont get knocked up between now and then!

oh, naw, I'm being serious. she should have retired during obama's first term. she'd already had cancer twice at that point. by the time people were calling for her to retire she said that there was no one but her who could hold the seat. she was so determined to secure her legacy that she rode out one term too many. it was pure arrogance on her part.

Not like they'd actually pay it.

Ya, that's another big part of this debate... George Carlin puts it stunningly.... Many people who are pro-life (especially the loudest most misogynistic ones) are obsessed with the unborn child, but as soon as that child is born not a ZIPPITY ZOO out of them about childcare, education, parental leave, healthcare. So how PRO LIFE can they actually claim to be???

I don't really get into conflict with family members about these kinda things. I don't know if it's just cowardice or if I'm just avoiding waisting my time and energy discussing something no one will change their opinion on. But this kinda thing definely gets my respect since I don't do it.
