I don't know that internet bigots are any more prominent than they have been for years. "Don't read the comments" has been a YouTube user proverb for like a decade now. The difference is now with the concept of alt-right and an unabashedly sexist, racist president the mouth-breathers of the world have something to gather around, to give a sense of solidarity.
Side note: The avowedly liberal alternative media site Alternet is using a photo of a Bernie supporter protesting CNN conflating her with the alt-right. God, the "Resistance" is pathetic.
