It's incredible how they just colored purple the entirety of Russia with like half of Asia to boot as just "Europe", as if Russia didn't colonize the shit out of all these territories. Oh, and the part of Europe that itself was colonized by, say, Soviet/Russian Empire (like Ukraine, Baltics, etc) is also somehow purple. Or what about territories in Europe colonized by the Ottoman Empire...bruh. It's so simplistic and wrong.

and tbh, the 5 is heavily debatable. Like japan is literally just a USA vassal state.

North korea is legit tho

Shouldn't South Korea be considered an American vassal and North Korea a Soviet vassal under that logic?

I don't know enough history to be certain but I doubt it bc japan has very different circumstances. Japan lost WW2 and had its whole military decommisssioned and is litered with american military bases. Then the whole population was forcibly westernized. Japan really can't say no to anything b the USA filled the country with military bases and soldiers and decomissioned their military. So its not colonized but the USA definitely controls the japaneese government with force.

While south korea has at least on paper a governmetn that chooses to work with USA as well as NOrth korea which I see as meaningful.

My Korean history is a bit shaky but after WWII the Korean peninsula split and put into a trusteeship under the United States and Soviet Union. Each side imposed their own form of government on the half of Korea they controlled.

It's like attributing a split to north and south Vietnam. Political ideology is a fuck. Vietnam was colonized by France, but got fucked by the world.

The USA is not in Europe, so any relationship between the USA and Japan would not affect this map. For this same reason Sierra Leone is shown as having been colonised by Europe, but Liberia is not. I don't think it is a good place to draw the line, but that is where the creators of this map have drawn it.

French Guiana is incorrectly labeled as part of Europe due a technical issue.

A multipart polygon.
