I feel like the shit's really going to hit the fan within our lifetime.

Seems that way. Makes me want to focus on building mutual aid networks.

It's hitting the fan as we speak.

The apocalypse isn't coming, it's here. Right now, as you read these words, it is unfolding in slow motion all around us. Most folk fail to see it because they've been conditioned by the movies to think of apocalypse as something that happens on a scale of hours or days (all-out nuclear war, alien grey goo, nearby gamma-ray burst, etc.) But these kind of mercifully quick apocalypses are extremely rare in our history as a species. To use just a couple examples, the Roman Empire took several centuries to fall apart. The Black Plague happened in fits and starts over a couple decades. Even the genocide of the First Nations people took years to happen.

At the risk of sounding like a Christian doom-prophet, we are--right now--experiencing the end of the world. There will be another one which comes after; what that new world looks like depends on the choices we make right now.

Can it just hurry up and collapse? This pre-SHTF dystopia is really boring.

I guess in the meantime all we can really do is avoid being rounded up by the brown shirts once these nations complete their descent into 4th reich fascism. So read up, work out, and stay vigilant. Maybe learn how to grow food and use plant medicines. Form groups of people that also do this so we have a few friends when shit hits the fan
