Yeah, I'm not sure the long term risk-benefit ratio of mask mandates has been rightly calculated. The use of plastics has seen a surge since the start of the pandemic, even outside the case of face masks.

My prefered approach with plastic waste, unless it can be properly recycled, is just to burn it. But I notice how fucking hard these masks are to burn! I don't even think it's wise to burrow them in a landfill as you never know if the plastic particles won't end up in the aquifer in some way.
What a mess... and these were never made to be used to massively in the first place. They're a man-made virus by themselves!
