White American collecting a 1000 bucks a month for empty ramblings on the same three anarchists breadtube ever talks about, complaining about not having enough of an outreach to recruit people and teach them proper solidarity and democratic anarchism. Fuck that guy.

imagine thinking this is a "problem" with Mastodon rather than a design goal

Yeah, exactly. But I'm not surprised that 'Anark' doesn't like federative associations, he wants to use his megaphone to teach the masses.

Shouldn't they just move to a different server if they want to reach out. Plenty of fash servers.

i don't think that its any less annoying or infuriating. i think these best tubers see themselves as following the tradition of the soap boxers without actually bothering to talk with the people, just at them. and like we see them doing this and we know that's what they're doing, but it's still just the worst.

at the other hand then it goes into debate bro style and whatever you say will be a "gotcha" moment. Honestly, sometimes I'm thinking about quitting social media altogether. Just like... chill alone and think up stuff and go to the internet for reading only

I got the pleasure of hearing anarks reaction to reading ziqs critique of zoe baker. Omg, so fucking annoying.

was this on his discord?

he's built a real cult of personality there. to his credit he was clear that's not what he wanted, but it's where he ended up anyway and didn't do much to mitigate it. that was my impression of my time there at any rate

no they can to cyber dandy and were being annoying.

Also literally every idol wanna be says they are not trying to be an idol. But in this case they are literally complaining about mastadon not letting them be an idol. So you don't have to be this good faith to them.

oh I left, thought it would be fucking weird to hang out in a chat room where people just shit talk about how they don't like ziq. Its weird because I like being on friendly terms with them. So it feels two faced as all hell to hang out and listen to people badmouth them.

But the gist was that ziq is a anarkidie who will never do anything cuz they are such a useless individualist. It was basically listening to fucking bookchin.

I told them that ridgid structure where you think you understand how its best everyone should live is inherently a problem. Decolonization requires flexible structures so indigenous people can live freely if they so desire. I said anarks system would be incompatible with real decolonization.

I also think I said something about how its super reasonable for ziq to have bad vibes when white settlers decide they have it all figured out and try to force their "better" system on them (ziq). Because thats probably pretty close to what most colonizers say before they come and take over.

yikes that sounds like your average lefty space, and yeah i dont stick out a limb for ziq but i do feel queasy when people bash on them just cause.

lettuceLeafer wrote (edited )

yeah people can diss ziq on twitter or reddit all day. I don't really care. Tho that discord felt more like a friend group. So I didn't want to make friends who just shit on ziq for fun in a group chat. People who like anark aren't my style to begin with.

What does decentralizing the internet mean for propaganda?

I imagine that eventually it'll somewhat re-centralise onto a bunch of corporate owned servers which provides a jump point for government sponsored propaganda, but also providing a mechanism to remove any servers which start promoting material outside the perspective of liberalism.
