They blocked me before I could say

You would opt for empty platitudes from neoliberal politicians over direct action, shitlib.

Just frustrating how many people block me before i can reply lately. Literally everyone I respond to now. Giving leftists a personal censorship button was a disaster. I even got blocked the other day for linking someone to an audiobook they requested.

That's why there's been a massive increase of liberal views on anarchist subs. The liberals block all the anarchists so the anarchists can't respond to any of it, and then only the liberals can post in any of their threads, all patting each other on the backs and creating a liberal safe space within an anarchist space.

The only way to combat is is for the mods to ban all the liberals so they can't keep creating these liberal bubbles.

Yeah, we can't even downvote their posts or their comments. They've effectively blocked all criticism of their liberalism. Marxists have been doing it on anarchist subs too.

Can't even reply to someone who replied to me in agreement because the person above me in the chain blocked me.

With the new block function not just preventing you from replying to someone, but from replying to anything downthread of them, it seems likely that subreddits will need to start instituting rules against using it in bad faith. Advertising/karma farm accounts are already abusing it, it wouldn't surprise me if entryists are abusing it too.

The thing is, how do you prove someone blocked you and it was unjustified? And then in the future, afaik, you're not even going to see their posts/comments. So if they block enough people, they can effectively takeover a community.

The new block function might be the most destructive change reddit ever did to its service and not enough people are talking about it or even fully aware of it and its consequences and potential for abuse.

I expect it would be based mostly on judgement calls, maybe with an interested mod using a service like unddit or pushshift.io to verify the reporter weren't harassing the blocker. It'd be more work, but the other option is to allow infiltrators, bots, and karmafarmers take over a sub, so kind of a rock and a hard place type situation.

Those services can't prove the reporter is actually blocked. One could claim you have maliciously blocked them to get you banned by the mods.

That's true, hadn't considered that. Screenshots and evidence gathering would be a fuckton more work than anyone, accused or moderator, would be likely to put in. I guess mods could more aggressively enforce echo chambers/required points of view in the same way subs like /@ would ban AnCaps, although that sort of heavy handed approach will be unpopular in regular subs, let alone anarchist ones.

Honestly, I expect the actual end result is going to be just accepting that reddit has more easily astroturfed opinions.

I think that is already the status quo and no one is really challenging it at any scale that matters.

People have also brought up these issues directly to the admins and they said they'll prevent abuse - probably through the same infallible magic that allows racists and queerphobes on their platform, while suspending you when you say bad words to them.
