Prior to the communist revolution in China, China was in the midst of it's (what they still refer to as) their century of humiliation.

20 percent of Shanghai were drug addicts after China outlawed opium.

To which the US and UK responded by driving gunboats into China and forcing the government to legalise opium so they could continue to keep the Chinese population both

A) drug addicted for opium profits

B) subjugated under the bootheel of western imperialism

It is entertaining first world anarchists see the gains of living standards (best in documented history) under Mao are dismissed as liberalism.
