Its hard living with an acute understanding of collapse. When we meet someone that actually openly denies climate change it can really add to the stress and cause us to lose faith in people. I know it has for me at any rate.

Was wondering if you all had any tips or strategies for mitigating the stress of being around climate denialism, or if you just want to vent about it.

I think understanding the root of denial is important too. Some people are legitimate sociopaths that value stock market performance over human and animal life. Some people I suspect subconsciously want to die and are unwilling accelerationists.

Mostly though I think denialism comes from an inablity to deal with fear about an unpleasant truth. Some people live on the surface of life, never going 'deeper' and are doomed to a superficial existence. Maybe they are dead inside, I'm not really sure. Sometimes I envy them, but mostly just feel bad for them.

I like to debate the other person if it makes sense. I find that we get a lot farther if I avoid terms like "climate change", "global warming" altogether and instead convey those ideas not as concrete terms but break them down semantically. Bit of deconstruction avoids the automatic emotions or reactions related to labels I think. Actually this makes for a better discussion in general I'd say.

Sometimes you have to admit that some people cannot change, will not change or are speaking a different language than you entirely.

I recall a shooter putting his hand on his heart and asserting that he was a committed climate-denier!
