It's simple; it's a popular movement. Ukrainian nazis are very good at hijacking popular movements to force a rightward tilt, as they've done at least twice in Ukraine proper. It's easy to give the perception that the right is populist and anti-oppression when the left supports the oppressors, giving them the perfect propaganda opportunities.

To the average man protesting, does the 'left-wing' man supporting China or the 'right-wing' man supporting you seem more appealing? Tankies are counter-productive in this way. The same applies to Social Democratic governments as well, they help give the right very strong propaganda by simply railing against the status quo.
