Hashish will not burn very well on its own in a joint. It needs some sort of filler to help it along and that has made tobacco popular as it is readily available and burns perfectly. The US on the other hand does not have Morocco as its main source for cannabis smuggling, and so hashish never established itself to the extent it did in Europe.

Meanwhile, blunts are far more popular in the US and it is ironic to see Snoop with one in his hand, made of tobacco leaf, while decrying the weed and tobacco mix.

For weed, I would generally use less tobacco for a joint than with hash. 1/3 to half a cigarette for a weed joint, a full cigarette for a hash joint. Pure weed can burn ok on its own (if you grind it well enough), so the tobacco filler is more of a matter of taste.

I used to smoke pure weed until I came to Europe. I think it's mostly a money thing. I can't be putting .5 or a gram into every joint I make. I also find that pure weed is much harsher feeling then mixed with tobacco, but I also smoke cigarettes so.

I also remember my dad telling me that his idea of weed in England 45 or so years ago was some powder to sprinkle on cigarettes and that the first time he got high with good weed it was in South Africa and it was too much for him

I also think in the USA people are far more likely to smoke weed with bongs or pipes, or nowadays vapourisers then the Europeans

But I don't understand europeans who want to make a blunt and then put tobacco in it. It's against my religion.
