yeah I think marriage is a massive method of system control. You get two people to police each other and remain stationary for a very long time ideally forever. Those factors are massively beneficial.
I don't know if thats purposeful. It probably is more Christians in government think marriage is good so they put up roadblocks to divorce.
yeah the laws seem to prove this and certainly favor a spouse who wants to stay married.
Ew
God this whole thing just sounds lovelier and lovelier.
found this answer later on in another related law. 8 years typically is what it sounds like.
I can sort of see the logic in this. But if you are the parent with physical custody you aren't allowed to move to another state without either the other parents consent or the courts. Which sucks because you can never move then. though the court does favor a move in dometic abuse situations.
Thing is though hypothetically my spouse could move to like the farthest north areas of the state and be five hours away from me if they were petty enough and had the resources. so that other state business doesnt really do what it aims to. Though if theh did something like that it could be grounds to sue if you could prove they were trying to fuck with your parenting time.
so yeah it gets hard to move.
I bet the rules about moving with physical custody is due to the massive prevalence of parents just taking the kids in a divorce. Most child kidnapping is of one parent taking the kids and moving away so they don't have to share.
I don't have a source on this so don't take it as gospel. I could be wrong.
Yeah thats my guess as well.
sort of a doubled edge sword this whole thing.

The court can interview the child about custody if they deem rhe child of "sufficient age" to have a preference.
I wonder how old sufficient age is typically
