lol, good for you. Though companies just save shit tons of money because people cave to social pressure to not negotiate. So I understand why they do it, its hard to give up loads and loads of money just to be nice. Which I doubt you ever will get form people running a country club

It's not to be nice, sometimes you will not negotiate in fear of loosing the offer or your post, not to mention that you usually need to humiliate yourself in doing so

Yes in my case I was worried about losing the offer and its hard to tell if they are playing a game to get me to take a lower amount or they legitmately don't have people ask often.

I think LL was speaking from the companies prespective. Like if you were the company why bother being nice during salary negotiations when being rude or pressuring people will save you tons of money. But I can read it both ways so who knows.

Or both. I negotiated an hourly rate. Started the job, quit my old job, only to not get the agreed on amount on my paycheck. The owner said he didn't remember agreeing to that, but now I was stuck. So, I created my own "supplemental pay system".
