I'm an anarcho-communist but I'm a little worried we aren't welcome here after all that anger I've generated simply by naming myself after Peter Kropotkin. Would it be better if I had picked a modern anarchist?

You're welcome here. Your understanding of theory is....not where I hope it ends up. Not everything gets solved by abolishing capitalism and class reductionism is straight up bad. I hope you keep reading and interacting with people outside of strict ancom circles - and be willing to take in new information, not just defend an ideology you don't seem to quite grasp yet.

Even in a kropotkin-ite anarcho-communism, there is the potential for racism, sexism, abelism, and all kinds of bigotry. It does not address climate change or produce solutions to the climate catostrophe that is coming. We need a lot more than just a democratically controlled factory to address the problems we face and to establish a society/culture that is truly liberatory.

It would have been better if you'd picked nobody, imo. Idolising individuals is for Marxists.

Oh, it's good to hear she gets banned for this behavior, at least. I suppose I'll wait until the mods see it before participating more.

I'm an anarchist communist, a scientist, and like I mentioned in another thread recently I feel very welcome in this corner of the internet. I think part of the reason for that is that the people here very much appreciate someone who is willing to take a scientific and critical approach to their own politics, willing to listen to others and speak in good faith.

Doesn't matter. That's not why you've generated anger. You waltzed in here and misinterpreted our way of viewing things in the same way many others like you have before. Had you not done that, I would've given your username an eyeroll at the absolute worst.

I hate to use the word sheeple, but it gets harder and harder the older I get and the longer I spend in leftist-adjacent spaces.

Seriously though, why would any anarchist roll their eyes at the Santa of communism? He's not a controversial figure like Stirner or something.

I'd be rolling my eyes at the idea of someone using the name of a person long dead, not at Kropotkin himself. Reeks of idolatry in the most banal sense.
