Planescape: Torment is my favorite video game.

Edit: Also, UFO: Enemy Unknown, Sid Meier's Civilization I, Quake I, GTA I. It's classic. As to modern games: all grand-strategy games from Paradox Studio are nice, and I've spent countless hours playing them. Basically, I mostly enjoy turn-based tactical-strategical games as well as RPGs with a great storytelling.

I don't have a favorite so I'll mention games that have stood out to me.

Tomb Raider (2013), it's been a while since i played a game like that and got hooked. My only complaint the raiding sessions were short and somewhat simple. Beyond that, very entertaining.

Guacamelee, very fun, fighting evil with Mexican wrestling moved and tons of references? I could only ask for more. I played both gold and super ultra turbo championship edition (just the name convinced me to double dip).

Wonderful 101, it's a niche of a niche. Very funny, difficult and I loved every second of it.

Breath of the wild, I really enjoy open world games where I can just scroll around and see what adventures I find. Really the only aspect of the same that kept me hooked.

LOZ: Wind waker, I knew this game was made for me the first time I saw it. My favorite Zelda game so far.

MegaMan Zero/MegaMan ZX (Advent)/Azure Striker Gunvolt. I don't know why, but these types of games really click for me. I'm saving to get 20XX on steam and see if I can scratch that itch.

On MMZX Advent, you fight Sonichu.

for me it's a tie between Splatoon 2 and Pokémon Red. i enjoyed both these games immensely

Oh Splatoon, I played the first one on the Wii U. Never a game made me hate it so much and still be impossible to quit it.

i played all last winter and was hopelessly addicted. i’ll likely go back to it, it relaxes me. looking for a new game for the Switch right now.

Which type of games do you like?

stuff that might qualify as "fantasy" if it was a book. i really liked Skyrim. i was looking at getting maybe Octopath Traveler or Hellblade. right now i'd prefer something with a storyline

i remember really liking Goldeneye and Crazy Taxi, but i think everyone did. wasn’t aware anyone liked the THPS on GB.

half the fun of this list was looking up some of the systems. not a big Playstation fan are you?

ziq wrote

I have a PS2 but yeah not worth listing since I'd just list shmups.

I'd probably say Towerfall. It was the best game on the OUYA, and it's probably one of the most fun modern couch co-ops out there. I haven't played the new version, but I'm sure it's just as fun.

As for non-video games, probably Arimaa. It uses chess pieces, but it's a completely different game. It's simpler, more light-hearted, and is more competitive across skill-levels. If a big chess nerd plays a beginner, they'll beat them up in five turns. If a big Arimaa nerd plays a beginner, the game can last for a while— the beginner might even win! Way more fun than chess between friends. :)

Someone actually bought an Ouya?

mofongo wrote

Thanks for Arimaa, I love (but suck) at chess and have looking for alternative play styles. I'm only missing someone to play with.

There are a lot of games I love and it’s hard to pick even ten. But the ones I remember most fondly were Zelda: Twilight Princess and Alien: Isolation. Solid story, great controls and otherwordly atmosphere.

My favourite card games are Android: Netrunner and The Lord of the Rings: LCG. Probably more the former than the latter, because I can play on my own.

Generally I like a lot of arcade-y stuff like shmups and rhythm games. Lately Pacman CE and Wipeout have been my favorites for releiving a bit of stress. If I had to pick like an all time favorite its probably like Soul Blazer.

I don't play a lot of tabletop stuff, but I really love like some Riichi Mahjong any time I can get 3 other people together for a game, but that can be tough.
