I hope that when the chips are down, I will be willing to give up everything, too. However much I may like the Internet and eBooks, it's not worth sacrificing the planet for them. I probably will struggle at first, but I'll learn to deal with it.

In any case, think less of what you will lose and more of what you will game: a system that benefits everyone, regardless of wealth, actual meaningful labor, and a tribal-band form of living, which is the kind humanity was built for in the first place. However neat apps may be, wouldn't it be neater to feel really and truly connected to the world and a wider community at large. Writing posts on the Internet is nice, but that's not the same as having real people who will take care of you when you are in need, because they know you will do the same for them, people willing to help you take care of your kids, because you would do the same for them. And the simple joy of being able to see the fruits of your labor and know how much it matters, know that they couldn't have gotten it done without you.

I feel like we could still get paved roads if we went back to masonry or did what they're doing in India and melt down waste plastic to fill potholes, and computers and the internet could remain if we got farther with meshnet systems or took control of the ISP infrastructure. Beyond that, yeah. Wipe it all the fuck out. Air travel's pretty brutal on the environment too. We should've stuck with ships.

Ships motor noise cause lots of stress to marine animals that depend on echolocation. Sails is where is at.

Definitely. It'd probably help a lot with avoiding collisions with whales and other marine life too.

I am aware that I do have limits. Those things listed are pretty easy and I'm fine with losing them, though.

Undergoing relentless, uncompromising and honest critique of myself is incredibly hard. In a sense, I've been unable to give up taking breaks from that - I've struggled to give up on some things about myself that comfort me. And it's been costly.

Weird having arbitrary labels after everything.

Are we replacing “the system” with our ideal? Then yeah, nothing you listed is really that great as long as my needs are met by the new system and the new system gives me more freedom.

I don't think imperialism, environmental destruction and capitalism are arbitrary labels.

None of those things are important. There's no time left for luxuries, the world is dying.

A closely related question might be:

Who would you be willing to work with to abolish the system?

If you are White, would you fight alongside someone who is Black? If you are Christian or Jew, would you make a stand with a Muslim? If you are Straight, would you lock arms and advance with Gay comrades? If you are Fascist, could you ally with Antifa long enough to reach a shared objective?

The alternative is gridlock - similar to that perpetuated by the see-saw statist struggle between Left/Liberal/Democrat and Right/Conservative/Republican.

what shard objectives? antifa's only objective is no more fascists lmao

as an organization sure, but I can garentee you their are members of antifia who have more pressing matters than just getting rid of facism.

−4

ziq wrote

antifa isn't an organization

user123456 wrote

thats my point. Antifa as a whole would never allie with "facists" but at the same time a sizeable portion of their members would probably be willing to walk away and allie with facists if nessary if they have a more pressing matter to attend to.

wtf r u on about

user123456 wrote

Well if their was a serious effort to abolish the system that for some reason needed an alliance between far left and far right groups, there is a good chance a lot of members of each group that opposes each other would weigh the risks and benifits and possibly decide to ditch their diffrences (for now) to accomplish one goal. So sure antifia would still "exist" in this hypthetical situation, but lots of people who would normally march with them would be preoccupied with the more pressing matter of overthrowing the main power.

I'm an anarchist, most people here are. We don't give a shit about left or right. The left/right dichotomy is the system. Close the revolving door.

No anti-fascist is going to align with a fascist; the moment they did that they'd stop being an anti-fascist.

wat
...
fascists ARE the system. they are the iron fist that favors the system. the first thing Hitler did was camp the communists because they were the main threat to him.

I wouldn't pair with fascists because fascists' primary objective is reactionary in nature. they want to prevent revolution, and are willing to do genocide. they have absolutely zero advantage, absolutely zero shared objective, absolutely zero admirable traits aside from stubbornness to fucking die already.

they are anti-communist because they are authoritarian capitalist and all genocidal about it.
