If by the "Great Filter" you mean the planetary autoclave we just got locked into by the plutocracy, then yeah we are.

i dont think people spend much time actually considering that the human race could go extinct due to our own actions. no one really considers it a serious possibility, it is treated as a philisophical idea but not as a thing that could really happen. but it only needs to happen once. just meditate on that for a minute.

Oh, definitely. Within my lifetime maybe.

I don't believe in the concept. I think things just progress as they do and to try to explain it is dumb, because there's the chance that life itself was a chemical fluke.

I think we’ve hit it unless we manage to kick off the singularity. The way I see it, humanity is on the threshold of intelligence where we’re just smart enough to destroy ourselves, but not smart enough to stop it.

I don’t think this phase is unique to us. Being able to grasp long term destabilization of your environment, as an entire species, isn’t exactly easy.

Cheers 🥂

I think we already passed it, but I'm optimistic like that.

If it's not "The Right Star System," then I suspect that we've been extremely lucky to have avoided for a long enough time major cataclysm that would set back and or completely end progression to technologically advanced life, particularly given hypotheses about historical mass extinction events on Earth.
