I think editing for typos and such is fine, but editing a comment to pretend you never said something bigoted isn't. If the latter becomes too much of a problem, I think it would be a good idea to modify the Postmill source code such that all edits for a post/comment are stored, but only site admins can see the previous versions (in case of someone editing a post to remove personal information they didn't want to make public). That way, an admin could resolve disputes like this by showing what the original post said. This requires the admins to be trustworthy people, but that's already a requirement.
