I'm kind of weird.

Philosophically I'm not a fan of pet ownership because I've seen it taken to unhealthy extremes and maybe thought about it in a different context than most people do.

But practical reality is that one of my kids adopted a rescue kitten when he was fledging. The cat's mother had been hit by a car and somebody found a litter of kittens that were then bottle-raised by a human being who was recently widowed, didn't have much family, and rescuing kittens was what she did. She doesn't normally let college aged kids adopt her kittens, but she made an exception this time because I assured her that gramma would take the kitten in if daddy's life circumstances changed.

They did. We all live together now and even though I'm the one stuck with the pet care and my adult kid is the one stuck with the overtime to pay more than his share of the rent and other bills, the cat is still a living being who didn't ask for any of this and doesn't exactly have many options as far as finding different living arrangements, looking for a job, etc.

Yea he's cute and I might post some pictures of him on a cat forum if I learn how to strip metadata and all that good stuff. There are other forums for discussing animal rights and the ethics of pet owndership.

It's just been on my mind lately and I'm not the best writer or communicator in the world. Sorry about the confusion and drama.

Yea, everything's fine even if it looked a bit mean out of context. No worries.

Aren't you the one who posted to /f/vegan the other day about finding an egg in the wild and stalking it for 12 hours to make sure its mother wasn't around before taking it and cooking it? What's up with all the weird posts?

Copenhagen_Bram wrote

It was a duck egg and I didn't stalk it for 12 hours, lol.

What other weird posts would you like to talk to me about?

I have a cat. She is a rescue and came from a kitten farm (as a mother). She had such a terrible life, but now she's living the life of luxury

I have three kitties I found years ago during the summer without their mother. I fed them for a few days to see if I noticed their mother and once I felt as though she wasn't coming back I tool them in and they're my babies. ❤

No, but I do housesit one from time to time. He is very affectionate to the point where I wonder if he realizes that he is a cat

I look after two. They're very nice. One was from a family friend whose cats had kittens, we adopted one at six months old. The other was a stray someone found and was about to be put down.

Do you have any photos? I might make a subraddle for cats if enough people like cats.

Nah, I don't have any good cameras that work well enough to be able to take pictures of them.
