Users turning against a social media platform en masse, due to some policy decision. Generally fucking up the site, breaking the ToS, making it unusable.

For example, if twitter banned porn, users completely covering the site in porn until the admins were forced to either change the policy or crack down hard on it (deleting accounts, closing new account creation, blocking image posts for a period of time, etc).

I don't think that can actually happen. The internet isn't a world in itself, it's not some sort of alternate dimension. It can help fuel and connect the revolution (in my opinion it is vital for success), but it cannot be the revolution in itself. At least I can't see how it would work.
