Hello

Submitted by imnoturfriend in AskRaddle

I have no questions, I just couldn't find a better place. Feel free to comment on my post if it were a question. Long time lurker, time for me to post. I tried to do this in music, but I can't see my post. I'm still learning. To be perfectly honest, the banning of defasher prompted me to make an account. You probably won't like me because I think a bunch of anarchists shouldn't be an echo box. I live to challenge your thoughts. I can do it with respect and tact. I'm not here to troll you. If you say dumb things, I won't hesitate to call you on it. Please feel free to call me on my dumb. i can take it. (this is probably going to get me hate). I thought you created this place to Exodus reddit, yet so many posts here, reference reddit. I don't understand this. I hope as a community WE can work away from this. I'm here to learn. The only reason I'm posting today is to tell you I'm here, and defasher was a hero to me. I don't agree with his politics, or yours. That's a a conversation we can have later. Hello! I will try to lurk, but I can't promise. I'm still learning to use this interface, feel free to pm me your objections. Just tell me how to find it, pls?

This. So far all you've really done is mark yourself as suburban milquetoast dude #24 with half-formed opinions that can probably be discarded without much effort. Also, who is 'we'? I am responsible for my own words and actions, however they impact the community. You are too.

Wow. I compliment the forum, and I'm milqetoast. I haven't even expressed an opinion, and your on the attack, and assuming my ideas. I had hoped to make myself a part of this community, that would describe "we". Obviously "we" will be at odds. I have seen recent posts about how this community should, and could grow. It excited me to become a part of it, and everything I posted was positive, until I encounter your obvious hate. Nice job Your community will die in obsolescence with your attitude. Your only responsible for hate and a crappy attitude as far as I can see. Would you like to talk about something? You project an amazing amount of hate and have no substance to your post. You're certainly not welcoming to someone who is announcing themselve to the community.

"We" will be at odds, until you learn to grow up or face responsibility for your words and actions instead of hiding behind civility.

You opened with backhanded compliments and painted yourself as a 'freethinker against the grain' while in the same breath ingratiating and including yourself amongst a community you have not earned the trust of. You'll note that I used 'I' language because I signed on for similar reasons, because I was aggravated about the technofetishist brigades downvoting anyone who thought preserving nature or indigenous rights might have a higher revolutionary potential and priority than cyberware and space elevators.

I hold myself apart until my place at the table is earned. You should be mad at me*, not them, and your kneejerk response to how the 'community' will die with my attitude shows that you project your issues and blame onto others as a whole. Why should I make space for your presumption and fragile ego or be welcoming to you? I surely wouldn't for any other person with your weak and self-victimizing attitude.

Another person wants to needlessly hate. Thanks for shitting on someone new. Obviously there will be no "we". You have no idea my age or maturity, or even attempt to know them. Your only post to me is to alienate me and gain "gold" from your fellow redditors for ostristicing someone you know nothing about. I offered no "backhand compliments" nor did I use the words "freethinker". I didn't ask for your trust. Your post is nothing more than buzzwords to get more upvotes. it's unsubstantial garbage words with no substance and no argument. If this community has any substance they should down vote you for you needless and hateful attack on someone who was honest. I don't have high expectations.

What would you like to clarify about this statement, if it is not a poorly thought out boast. You have said you can take it, but you are quickly proving otherwise.

"Your post is nothing more than buzzwords to get more upvotes. it's unsubstantial garbage words with no substance and no argument. If this community has any substance they should down vote you for you needless and hateful attack on someone who was honest. I don't have high expectations."

Would you in turn like to point out where I have used 'buzzwords', because all I can see that would be taken as such is potentially "fragile ego", which seems to piss off a very narrow group of people, that I personally couldn't care less about upsetting. You've also, again, missed the point that I am not we. If you think a person calling you out in a collective of equals for acting foolishly is a hateful attack, you're not someone I would feel remotely comfortable organizing with in any capacity. That's the kind of attitude that breaks a community, not strengthens it.

" I thought you created this place to Exodus reddit, yet so many posts here, reference reddit. I don't understand this. I hope as a community WE can work away from this. I'm here to learn. Why does post-punk as a genre still talk about the influence of Violent Femmes or The Ramones on Joy Division? One grew from another, to think that there's any kind of clean break would be to have a very limited understanding of how ideologies and subcultures evolve. From this, you mention a user that more than likely would balk at the idea of anyone calling him their hero, whose departure was a contentious subject as it is. You presume that anyone wants to have that conversation at all, and you use 'we' language describing a community that you have not invested time or labor into yet.

What would you like to clarify about this statement? That you don't assume my position, it was made from a point of humility and why I asked to be called on my dumb. Your whole post beyond that is buzzwords and pusedointeluctual garbage. here's your post. "ingratiating and including yourself amongst a community you have not earned the trust of. You'll note that I used 'I' language because I signed on for similar reasons, because I was aggravated about the technofetishist brigades downvoting anyone who thought preserving nature or indigenous rights might have a higher revolutionary potential and priority than cyberware and space elevators. ingrating technofefetish brigardes indigenuiois revoultionary cyberware space elevator ingratiating post punk genre". I hope you get the idea from that, your needless verbage only precipitates your own "fragile ego" in the hopes that someone can't understand. You're endlessly attacking me, without knowing me, and it shows how fragile you are. "here let's attack someone needlessly because HE isn't US" and your words prove it over and over. Your transition into violent femmes only proves you are reaching for approval. You drop the argument and segway into meaningless marlarky to belay any point and score more upvotes.

Whoowee. Let's break this word salad down before it rots any further.

1.) Your 'position' as outlined was that you hoped to 'challenge' our thinking, and that you would criticize others and hoped to be criticized in turn. You said that you could take it. So, I criticized you. I told you that you were being presumptuous and that attitude wouldn't win you respect.

  1. ) These aren't buzzwords, friend. These are words anyone even toe deep in anarchist theory is going to understand. Hell, these are words anyone fluent in english is going to understand. If it is your second language, I'm happy to rephrase it for you, but don't call buzzwords on something we already have established in the vocabulary. "BUH THEY USE BIG WORDS TO SOUND SMART" is the weakest of arguments. I'm using them because they describe what I'm trying to get across.

  2. ) I'm attacking you because you, again, asked for criticism. Hostility came when you, yourself, started behaving hostilely. "Talk shit, get hit" is the golden rule. Also, to repeat myself for probably the third time, I use I language to get across that I hold my opinions about your behavior, not our collective judgement. If nobody has challenged me on this so far, it's probably because they agree with my overall point. I've also been using 'they' in relation to you, because I'm not going to be an asshole and assume your identity beyond "know-it-all prick", though with all apologies to masc comrades in the thread, I'm not in the least surprised that you're a guy.

  3. ) Mentioning a band is a tactic to garner approval? I'm not even going to dignify this with a response.

YOUR vs US yeah, I'm marking this up as don't care. You didn't like it when it was said, and have made a point of it, yet you're NOW going to use it. hypocrite. I'm done with you and this pointless argument. You're a horrible ambassador to this community.

I was bored of reddit so I came on here & saw your post, I made an account specifically so I could let you know that I’m laughing at you, have a nice rest of your weekend but times not real so maybe that’s misleading

imnoturfriend wrote

I thought I responded to you. Sorry if I repeat. I'm still learning the interface. "HE LEFT FOR HIS OWN WELL BEING" Wow. So if this place isn't an echo chamber, you threaten them? I've honestly lurked for a year and I've never seen the hate and threats I've experienced in one post. Guaranteed, I wasn't boot licking on my introduction, but among self described anarchists, I thought I didn't need to bow down and lick your boots to be accepted. I'm honestly amazed how hateful you are to me, granted you don't even know me enough to hate. Are you this fearful of different opinions that you need to be so hateful? I've honestly been more polite than I should be to you, considering how you've treated me.

GaldraChevaliere wrote

I'm very sure that he bailed because the site stressed him the hell out, as did Emma. Surprisingly enough, people take measures to stay healthy when able to.

If you think you've been threatened or told to lick anyone's boots, you've either taken away the completely wrong thing from this, or you're acting in bad faith. No matter which it is, you've come off as intensely self-pitying and immature. Nobody lives in 'fear' of your opinions, get real with yourself. I think your opinions are stupid. I have done as you asked in pointing out how and why they are stupid.

the hell are you talking about

the reason he left is because the transhumanist contingency of this site (that is now mostly gone) treated him like shit

nobody here is afraid of your opinions and i'm guessing they are not that impressive. mostly i'm annoyed by how conceited you are

-1

imnoturfriend wrote

?? I'm less than conceited.I'm antisocial and usually a mouse. I wasn't kidding, I've lurked almost a year (9 months if I had to guess). Conceited people don't lurk. Your impressions are your own, I'm sorry you feel that way. It isn't accurate. Defasher OK, the more this thread expands, the more I believe the statements. I had HOPED to get away from the trashhumanist ideals, but actually participating in this seems less hopeful than the observations were. I can't conceive of anyone being 'afraid' of my opinions. it's only words. and again, you asshat, I'm not conceited. If you get to know me you'd learn it's the opposite.

Dumai wrote

  1. demonstrating 0 awareness of the conflicts on this site but dishing out authoritative statements on how to fix them anyway (most of us actually liked defasher and almost everyone who didn't has now left btw!)

  2. baselessly accusing the entire community of maintaining an "echo box" and contrasting that with how you "LIVE TO CHALLENGE PEOPLE" because you're sooo special

  3. claiming you are able to take criticism but immediately coming on the defensive when people take you up on that

... is what i'd describe as conceited behaviour

apparently people here are violently afraid of "only words" when then come from someone who dosen't subscribe to their ideas.

Obvious, you're afraid of proving your thoughts then. I came here to be challenged. I'll respect you. Please give me the same.

i've only been here for just under 2 months but in that time i've been called a "theophile", told i was falling for conservative ideology on multiple occasions, and accused of being part of some sinister conspiracy to brainwash newcomers on this site into hating others over "street-level gang colours"

don't tell me i come here to avoid conflict, if you think this place is an echo chamber you are not paying attention and your small-minded arrogance is not actually that respectful

You don't enter a website with a condescending attitude and try to convince us you're so graciously giving us respect.

Once upon a time I read he had. My bad. From lurking I know your name. I appreciate the timely response. A communal aversion might as well be a ban, he was down voted to troll status for having dissenting opinions. He could of expressed them better, but in a comunity of self ascribed anarachists, he should of been treated better, IMAO. i appreciate your timely response.

the people who did that are by no means representative of the site as a whole and it's for that reason most of them are gone now

1

LOL. in minutes, for expressing my opinion, it appears different. I'll stick around to see what happens. ty

You haven't really expressed any concrete opinions (besides your stance on the Defasher drama, which i think we've discussed plenty on here. It's about time that we leave it behind, things have changed since and discussing it further only leads to toxicity). All you've done in this thread is act holier-than-thou, condemning the whole community for the actions of a few people who left the site long ago, and getting pissed when people point out your bullshit, although you explicitly stated that you would be open to critique and could handle it.

I'm sure that you would be able to see the truth in what people here are telling you, if you actually tried analyzing yourself, your post and your replies in the post critically.

The fact that this is such an obvious and shallow attempt at 'trolling' either means they've hit the bottom of the barrel or pepper the board with low-grade trolls that don't quite cause a ruckus but attempt and derail conversations (which I've seen 2 troll accounts today attempting to do).

I could be paranoid, but it's what I would do if I wanted results. :p
