Technology is making life worse in that we may have created our own replacements for many, if not most, jobs. I do like the non-job threatening improvements such as safer cars, etc.

The fact that we can automate basic tasks so well that they can replace jobs is not a bad thing. It's bad under capitalism, since it hurts the working class and benefits the owners of the means of production, but it holds lots of potential outside of capitalism.
