We still have no idea how we can get into deep space without dying of radiation poisoning, so until that changes - terraforming, colonising anything outside our solar system, all that stuff is out of our grasp. And the environment here is being degraded by capitalism at such a rapid rate that it's unlikely we have enough time left. I'd like to though, it would be great to get out in the universe and not be dependant on the continued existence of this one planet for our survival.

Do you think humanity will survive long enough to colonize other worlds?

No idea, and

Do you want us to?

Probably no, but, that said, I don't think the decisions have anything to do with me, and I don't know what possibilities will exist for people then.

I have a feeling humanity will be around until we evolve into something else. Humanity is tough to kill, like a particularly malignant cancer.

Do you want us to?

yes, because I think space colonization will be the next major shift in human civilization, towards I-don't-know-what and I want to find out.

The question is, will we have created the basis for a society that is capable of treating people fairly and equally by that point? That is the key decider for me - whether or not we end up expanding a utopia to the stars, or a darker version of our status quo.
