Try thrifting first! If theres local classifieds in your area look there, most good workboots are made to last, i found a great pair of work boots for about $20 second hand. A good pair of boots will hold value if taken care of so if you decide to find a different job you might be anle to re sell them later, theres always people looking for a good deal on some steel toes.

I feel so silly having not thought of that! Unfortunately I'm in a suburban desert, and haven't been able to thrift for months. Closest stores would be multiple hours of bicycling. I'll try just for you.

Just a heads up I have never had much luck with footwear in thrift stores personally though this is because I have larger feet. If you run a more average size shouldn't be a problem.
