I'm currently in need of bedding / a mattress or equivalent. I have seen mattresses with their costs expressed in four whole digits. No bueno para mí.

If you have any advice on that topic, or perhaps other tips on how to sleep without much cash, let me know.

I slept on a camping sleeping pad + a blanket or two for padding on a hardwood floor for months, I got used to it. If you have carpet+multiple blankets even better

If you don't have a good local classified see if anyone you know is planning on upgrading their bed, if you have a friend who is moving in with their partner, or leaving town etc. there are also sometimes places that have really good deals on mattresses, is there an ikea nearby? Some thrift stores sell mattresses as well, maybe ask a free group on social media?

Potentially, ask people selling second hand beds, they might have a mattress they're planning to dispose because they don't think people will want second hand mattress.

That is what I have now, but it is a small mattress and even then it is expensive to move. Also I would be open to something more portable and/or easily sourced.

others said camping bed or air mattess. A cot is also an option.

I also know more than one person who just sleeps on the floor.

Which is supposedly good for your back? idk.

I've tried sleeping on the floor. On my side works OK, but my arm often falls asleep. On my back can be tough for me due to... respiratory obstruction. I can get naps in on my side so that is nice.

I am basically looking for a camping bed / mat... Something soft, but lightweight and easy to roll up.

Another idea, somewhere between a roll mat and a mattress is an egg crate mattress. They're designed to go on top of a standard mattress for better body support, but on their own they're better than most roll mats, and fairly portable.

(Air beds are really comfortable, but can be annoying if they get holes, e.g. from animals)

I slept on a futon mattress for over a year. Way cheaper than bed mattresses. Airbeds are also quite low. Hand-me-down from a co-worker was best mattress we ever owned. Currently, our Ikea mattress was 1/2 the closest compettitors price.

I used an air mattress and then a couch for like 8 months. It was honestly great. Sometimes I would just sleep on carpeted ground. Kind of miss that set up.
