I think the horrors of war become more unbearable when you know you aren't fighting for the good guys.

But you may be correct. Just speaking from the few vets I have known.

I think this is also why so many vets become so patriotic. It's a way to cope. After you've seen so much bloodshed and senseless death you just have to cling to whatever holds your sanity. I can't blame them for this, it would take an amazingly strong person to recover from this stuff, and I know I wouldn't be able to.
