That's one way to look at it. Not sure if he's explicitly implying that because they lived centuries ago they did it better. I do agree with him though that Diogenes as a philosopher takes huge dumps on most modern-day anarchists because of the way he lived his ideas, with his ideas being extremely radical and essentially what we would call anarcho-primitivist today.

I don't know much about how Zerzan has engaged with Egoism but from what I understand he can be quite ignorant and dismissive.
