it automatically throws your search into a search engine of your choice
My most used ones are yt! (youtube) and g! (google) and w! (wikipedia) and gi! (google image) and gt! (google translate).

Another handy thing is that you can just click into the start of the url bar and put !wayback
or !wbs
in before the url to see if there's an archived page for the current url. Also, you can use !bang to search for more. If you don't want javascript or the ads then there is https://lite.duckduckgo.com too.
