i'm currently hacking my new 2ds xl and the tools are named 'fbi' and 'cia', which is hilarious.

also, can I even play online with a hacked console? won't they ban me?

The 3DS is dead, the switch reigns supreme, Nintendo doesn't care anymore. I play online in my hacked wii u and have never been banned. Plus, they don't ban people individually, they ban in waves.

seems like a lot of work to level up to the point where that would be fun

i just want to play tetris, street fighter iv, shakedown hawaii and animal crossing right now

With a hacked 3DS you can inject the pokemon you want to use. That's what competitive pokemon players do, it saves a lot of time.

that sounds counterproductive. if you don't build the pokemon up yourself and bond with it, it's just some random game of rock paper scissors

Yep!

Given that the mechanics of breeding pokemon with the perfect IVs and nature is almost entirely RNG save for a few things that the player can control, it also makes more sense to just cheat your way through it. The newest games have introduced mechanics to make that easier, but not everyone wants to play those or has access to a Switch so the point is mute.

These are the competitive types, though; they're very much about winning over fun; exploiting move mechanics is also something that's done. Multiplayer's a fucking mess.

That's a nice collection. Retro City Rampage is on 3DS too, if you'd like to revisit.
