I don't know why, but the mere mention of Oracle always uniquely disturbs me on some visceral level.

Imagine going to court to set the godawful precedent that re-implementing an API for the purpose of interoperability is copyright infringement while you yourself are re-implementing other people's APIs for the purpose of interoperability.
