I know there's a trick to unlock my LG, tho since I use it for work I'm afraid to brick it. It's tricky as motherboards are designed for providers and u gotta make sure you get the right one, and that there won't be a bug somewhere in the unlocking process...

Locked bootloaders are tech feudalism.

You should really consider switching to Grapheneos and using a phone like the Pixel 3. you can get the pixel 2 on swappa for around 200 dollars and you can get the pixel 3 on swappa for around 375. They are a huge upgrade over lineageos from a security perspective. Lineageos breaks a lot of security features and does not always implement all security patches.

When using lineageos you will most likely not be able to use verified boot like you can with the Pixel devices. Pixel devices have the ability to unlock the bootloader, change the verified boot keys, and retain full security features of the Titan M chip or the HSM.

thanks for the tip, sorry i haven't been on for a while...

I'm pretty broke myself so i usually buy flagship devices that are a few years old, my threat model isn't really that high and while I know lineage isn't the most secure, I also want something that's stable and has a broad range of support (since I usually buy old/used phones) and often i need to run commercial software like whatsapp. but I do need a new phone and was thinking about getting a Pixel 2 or 3, so I certainly will look into it.
